What makes you different from other internet companies?
There are a few important things that make White Cloud Networks different:
- Coverage. We offer both fiber internet and wireless internet, giving us maximum coverage. Most companies specialize in one type of internet or the other.
- Local. We’re homegrown right here in Southern Idaho. Sometimes internet service providers will claim they are “local” but the person you’re talking to on the phone is multiple states away. Not us.
- Customer service. When you call us, you get a real human at our office – not an AI chatbot or a call center in another state or country. We’re here. And we’re here to help. In fact, when you call us, you don’t even get a phone tree you have to sort through – you call direct to our team. Now that’s service.
- Neighborly. You’re not a sales quota to us – we’re not going to call and try to upsell you to buy more internet services than you need. If you’re experiencing an issue, just call us – we’re here to help!
- Independent, not a big corporation. You are more than just a number to us. When you call us up, there’s a good chance we’ll remember you by name and what was unique about your house when we installed internet.
What is FWA or "wireless" internet?
Fixed wireless access (FWA) is a way to get high-speed internet to your home without using cables or phone lines buried in the ground. Instead of a wire, the internet travels through the air using radio waves.
Think of it like a giant, powerful Wi-Fi signal for your whole neighborhood.
- The Main Tower: An internet company has a tall tower (like a cell phone tower) that is connected to the super-fast “fiber optic” internet.
- The Signal: This tower sends out a wireless signal, just like a radio station.
- Your Antenna: A small dish or box is placed on the outside of your house—usually on the roof or a high wall. This antenna “catches” the signal from the tower.
- The Router: A wire runs from that outside antenna into your house and plugs into your Wi-Fi router, giving internet to your tablets, TVs, and computers.
How does it benefit me to choose a local ISP like White Cloud Networks over a large corporation?
You actually matter to us. You’re not a number on a spreadsheet. For example, there’s a good chance our Customer Service Representatives will remember you by your name and recall how things were situated at your house.
If you have questions or have any issues, just call us – you won’t get a foreign call center or an AI robot answering the phone, we promise.
Does rain, snow or other weather make your internet stop working?
In short: No.
Not under normal conditions. We’ve engineered our network to be resilient against everyday rain and snow. While extreme weather or rare physical accidents (like a third-party crew cutting a line) can cause interruptions for any provider, you can count on a stable connection through the vast majority of weather events.
What are the advantages wireless internet has over satellite-based internet?
Short answer: Better performance.
-
Satellite: Data travels over 44,000 miles to space and back, causing high latency.
-
Fixed Wireless: Data travels from a local tower to an antenna on your home, usually within a 5 to 15-mile radius.
Latency changes how “snappy” or responsive internet feels, especially for things like Zoom meetings or gaming.
There’s a lot of focus in the internet industry on bandwidth. If you think about internet data like a water pipe, bandwidth is the pipe width and latency is the speed of the water in the pipe. Bigger pipes allow for you to download more data at once, but you still want high latency to help your internet feel responsive.
Do you price match other ISP's?
YES. We strive to offer the best value in the region. If you find a lower advertised price for a comparable service level from another local provider, let us know. We’ll do our best to match it and keep your business local.
